SUMMARY:Offshore renewable energy summer school
DESCRIPTION:The two-week offshore renewable energy summer school is designe
 d to deliver an industry focused course that aims to expand and sustain a 
 community of high-quality staff for the UK offshore renewable energy indus
 try. The summer school uses taught sessions\, case studies and hands-on ac
 tivities delivered by industry experts. Participants will also gain practi
 cal experience in HR Wallingford’s modelling hall and navigation simulat
 or. Week one outlines site selection procedures\, wave and tide theory\, c
 omputational modelling (TELEMAC and SWAN)\, types of coastal structures an
 d methods for determining forces on coastal and offshore structures. Week 
 two covers maritime engineering\, environmental and scour issues facing de
 velopers of offshore wind\, wave and tidal farms. Participants will be int
 roduced to site investigation methods\, learn about marine equipment\, exp
 erience the behaviour of small vessels\, and test out hypotheses in a phys
