SUMMARY:Offshore Industry and Archaeology: A Creative Relationship 
DESCRIPTION:The two‐day conference will address three key themes:\n\n• 
 Industry and archaeology: case studies\n\nThe contribution of industry to 
 archaeology will be explored with presentations from major contributors su
 ch as Petroleum Geo‐Services (PGS)\, who provided essential datasets\, a
 nd Rotterdam Mainport Development Project\, who integrated research on pre
 historic landscapes in dredging and construction offshore. Innovative scie
 ntific results obtained by the Birmingham University archaeological resear
 ch group based on their collaboration with industry will be demonstrated t
 hrough a presentation on Doggerland and its prehistoric habitation.\n\n•
  Meeting Environmental Regulation Requirements\n\nEnvironmental regulation
 s\, spatial planning and the lack of consistency in cross‐border regulat
 ions will be addressed on the basis of the Nordstream pipe‐laying projec
 t through the Baltic\, and similar cross‐border projects. Presentations 
 will address the issues from the perspective of project‐development\, ar
 chaeological research and cross‐border heritage management.\n\n• Prese
 ntation of small and medium sized enterprises\n\nThis networking element o
 f the conference will enable companies specializing in survey\, offshore a
 rchaeology services\, data evaluation and consultancy to present their spe
 cialisms and services to the offshore industry\, to heritage management an
