DESCRIPTION:European governments have recently announced a significant expa
 nsion of offshore wind park projects. However\, building massive wind farm
 s many miles out to sea contains still a lot of challenges. One key elemen
 t – sometimes neglected – is cabling. Cable layout at sea\, very often
  with difficult weather conditions\, is demanding. Submarine cable repair 
 accounts for over 70% of all insurance claims on installed wind parks thou
 gh the cable costs when developing a new wind farm make only 7 to 10% of t
 he whole development investment. This clearly shows the need for improveme
