SUMMARY:MOWII Webinar: OCGen prototype testing: evaluating buoyancy pod/ten
 sion leg platforms for tidal energy development 
DESCRIPTION:ORPC will present the results of the company's design\, permitt
 ing and testing of a mooring system for ocean energy devices in partnershi
 p with the U.S. Department of Energy\, the University of Washington\, the 
 University of Maine\, PCCI\, Inc.\, and other private contractors. The pro
 ject was installed in Cobscook Bay\, Maine in early July 2014 and complete
 d in mid-September.\n\nThe goals of the OCGen Module Mooring Project are:\
 n\n	To design a standard mooring system and prove the technical and econom
 ic viability of a fast-water mooring system for hydrokinetic devices that 
 are moored below the surface and above the bottom in reversing tidal envir
 onments\;\n	To document that the mooring system is environmentally friendl
 y and economical due to the use of commonly available and commonly deploye
 d components\;\n	To show that the system can be easily installed and remov
 ed using surface vessels\;\n	To help resolve a technologically significant
  and costly barrier to installation of tidal power systems\; and\n	To prov
 ide the company and others with means to accelerate commercialization of t
