DESCRIPTION:Offshore substations are essential for getting offshore wind po
 wer back to shore. Without them\, wind turbines would sit idle. Once the i
 nstalled capacity exceeds about 100MW\, power from the turbines needs to b
 e stepped up in voltage to get it back to shore. Offshore substations are 
 used to reduce electrical losses by increasing the voltage before export o
 f power to shore. A standard design for offshore wind substations which re
