Romania’s wind energy market is evolving into a big global player. Installed wind energy in Romania is predicted to reach 650MW by the end of the year and it doesn’t stop there; potential could reach 3,000MW within three years and 5,000MW before the end of the decade. In the recent WindBarriers Report conducted by the EWEA, Romania emerged as the third quickest EU country for gaining permission.

Coupled with a favourable climate for wind and the political will to meet its 2020 RES targets, the Romanian wind industry is set to grow rapidly over the next 7 years as companies race to take advantage of 2 green certificates per MW for projects commissioned before 2017.
